About Blossoming Bellies

My passion and purpose is to help you find or strengthen this connection with yourself and your baby and to educate you about the birthing process so that you can take charge of your birth experience.

Our Philosophy

Helping you achieve the experience you desire. As doulas we do not ascribe to one particular birthing philosophy. We do not believe there is one right or best way to give birth. We do, however hold certain beliefs about birth.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services that fall under these four categories:

The benefits of having a doula

Clinical studies have found that a doula’s presence at birth
  • tends to result in shorter labors with fewer complications
  • reduces negative feelings about one’s childbirth experience
  • reduces the need for pitocin (a labor-inducing drug), forceps or vacuum extraction and cesareans
  • reduces the mother’s request for pain medication and/or epidurals
Research shows parents who receive support can:
  • Feel more secure and cared for
  • Are more successful in adapting to new family dynamics
  • Have greater success with breastfeeding
  • Have greater self-confidence
  • Have less postpartum depression
  • Have lower incidence of abuse

I will always remember this labor and birth experience with only the fondest memories. M and I both felt so supported by your presence and participation, which is exactly what we needed and wanted. Both of us are so thankful that we happened to meet you and that it was you there with us for those days. You are very talented at your work, and we appreciate everything you did for us. Thank you.

Lauren and Matt S.

From the moment I found out I was pregnant I knew that I wanted to have a doula present at my birth. after much convincing, my partner agreed to hire Niko. Her presence at my birth was amazing. she was objective yet completely involved in helping me to achieve the natural labor/ birth that I was aiming for. the help she provided us was invaluable and I have already decided to look her up again to be part of our delivery. Thank you for everything!

Unlike the birth of our first child (52hours of labor), the labor with E. progressed extremely quickly – so much so that I don’t think I would have made it o the hospital in time if it were not for Niko who drove me while my husband waited at home with our son M. for my sister to arrive to take care of him. Despite the short labor it was nontheless very intense and it was reassuring to have Niko with me the whole time, encouraging and supporting me. her presence enabled me to have the completely natural, drug free and intervention free birth that I so wanted to have. It was a miraculous birth experience and such a contrast to the difficulties we experienced with the first birth. While we did not end up using the birth pool or fully using hypnobirthing it was wonderful to have these options with our doula, Niko. The fact that I felt so comfortable with her enabled my labor to progress so well. It was a terrific and amazing experience. thank you, Niko!

You were just what I needed to be self-confident in my capability to birth naturally and uncomplicated. i have enjoyed the last few months of pregnancy and have become more aware of my abilities to listen to my body and to allow it to do what was needed to grow and birth this wonderful baby boy. Niko, you did a great job supporting J. and I in labor, thank you!

My first birth was in hospital and my husband I ended up opting for a epidural.  We had little support from the nurses other than encouraging different drugs to use, so when I felt I had no more alternatives we turned to an epidural.  I ended up having a bad reaction to the epidural that lasted weeks after the delivery.  When we found out we were pregnant again, we knew we had to find someone who would help us deliver naturally.  We interviewed a few different doulas and felt the best connection with Niko.  She was professional, had tons of different techniques for drug free delivery and most of all she wasn’t judgmental.  She supported our every decision.  When I went into labor, I ended up having complications that would prevent me from leaving my bed during labor.  I was pretty scared I wasn’t going to be able to labor naturally, but Niko gave us tons of alternatives that helped and gave us the labor we hoped for against all odds.  My husband and I felt that having her throughout the labor process was invaluable and we will definitely use her again in future pregnancies.
